I have thoroughly enjoyed attending Howard’s watercolour classes for the past 3 years. I have learned many new techniques and now have more confidence with painting in a loose style. His painting demonstrations are always combined with a detailed explanation covering all levels of ability. I especially appreciate that he takes the time to comment and give positive and constructive individual feedback.
I was attracted to Howard’s exciting artwork by its looseness, simplicity and freshness. His classes that I have attended over 3 years, are friendly, full of fun and inspiring. Howard is an excellent tutor who guides his students with great enthusiasm instilling in them confidence, creativity and technical knowledge.
Late in life, five years ago and with no experience, I joined Howard's watercolour class. He encouraged this complete novice to give it a go. All of his classes have been very enjoyable, informative and very worthwhile. Howard is always very encouraging, instructive and makes the classes a pleasure to attend.
“Over the years as an officer of Cowbridge Art Society I have often recommended employing Howard for his enlightened art demonstrations. He has a wonderful relaxed and engaging manner which always attracts a large audience. His skills are not only with the paint brush, but also in his analysis and explanations of the problems involved in painting. I personally have learnt a great deal from attending his classes and he has managed to loosen my approach to watercolours.”
I have been a student for a year at Howard's Chapel Cottage studio watercolour course also attended his other workshops and spent time on a painting holiday that he facilitated. I found these experiences invaluable to my progress as a watercolourist and latterly my work in acrylics, (he is very generous in sharing his skills and personal techniques) In the current Covid 19 situation, he has been proactive in enabling myself and others to take advantage the zoom workshops, (very patiently to those of us who were not technically minded) which he organised. These have been so beneficial to us and thoroughly enjoyable and I would have no hesitation in recommending any of Howard's courses. Many thanks Howard
